At a press conference in Sydney today SBS Director of Television Tony Iffland announced details of the network’s plans to re-launch SBS 2. The digital station will be revamped in an effort to capture a young and inquisitive audience aged 16-39.

SBS 2 is set to re-launch in April 2013, with a decisive new focus on digital media, online content and accessible news reporting. The decision comes in light of a federal government funding boost to the SBS. The 2012 Federal Budget allocated $158.1 million to the network, amounting to a funding increase of 27% over the next four years.
